About Master Kincade

Dr. Kimm was known as “Master Kimm” to everyone in the store because the other employees heard that he “knew karate”. Master Kincade asked what style he taught, and Master Kimm replied, “Kuk Sool.” Master Kincade told him that he wanted to study Hapkido. Master Kimm replied, “I have a black belt in Hapkido.” (Master Kincade later found that Dr. Kimm was a seventh degree black belt, one of the first to bring Hapkido to this country, and was a good friend of the man who performed Hapkido in Billy Jack!)

After a year had passed, Master Kincade finally went to Dr. Kimm’s school to observe class. Before he knew it, he was in a uniform and on the mat. He knew that he had found both the style and the instructor that he had been looking for, and studied under Dr. Kimm for over 20 years.  During that period, Master Kincade taught at Dr. Kimm's headquarters school, assisted Dr. Kimm in seminars all over the world and helped with the publication of several of his books.  Dr. Kimm is the founder of Han Mu Do and President of the World Han Mu Do Association.

After moving back to his boyhood home in Mississippi in the late 1990's, Master Kincade became affiliated with the World Kido Federation and the Hanminjok Hapkido Association.  In 2007, he was certified as a Sixth Dan (degree Black Belt) in Hapkido by those associations, having that rank registered with the Korean government.

Master Kincade continued teaching Hapkido, combining Dr. Kimm’s techniques with the techniques and forms of Kuk Sool Hapkido until the summer of 2010, when he  changed the course of his school’s study to TeukGong MooSool.

While Visiting Korea in 2002, Master Kincade had met Grandmaster No Won Park, President of the International TeukGong MooSool Federation.  President Park presented Master Kincade a Silver Medal for his self-defense demonstration at an International Tournament in which he was competing.

Master Kincade was very impressed with President Park's students and their TeukGong MooSool style.  He learned that TeukGong MooSool is the martial art of the Korean Special Forces, Presidential body guards, and other elite fighting units of the South Korean government.  He later began to study TeukGong MooSool and in 2007 was certified as a Master under President Park and the International TeukGong MooSool Federation.

Master Kincade is one of few Americans authorized to teach this unique system of martial arts and conducts seminars  throughout the United States for students as well as instructors seeking teaching certification.

Master Kincade considers the summer of 2010 as one of the most important in his martial arts' life.  President No Won Park traveled to the United States and conducted his first seminars on American soil as a guest of Master Kincade.  While in the United States, President Park stayed in Master Kincade's home and gave him many valuable hours of personal training.  As a result of this visit and training, Master Kincade made the decision to devote all his professional time and efforts to the development and spread of TeukGong MooSool in the United States.

In 2011, Master Kincade created the American TeukGong MooSool Alliance, with Academy of Korean Martial Arts being the headquarters and flagship school.

Master Steve Kincade, owner and Master Instructor of Academy of Korean Martial Arts, holds Master's Ranking in Han Mu DoHapkido, and TeukGong MooSool, and Black Belt rank in the  Korean Martial arts of Taekwondo and Kuk Sool Won,.

He saw the movie Billy Jack in the early 1970’s and was so impressed with the kicking techniques and philosophy of martial arts presented in the movie that he decided that he wanted to study Hapkido, the martial art used in the movie. For years Master Kincade searched for an instructor who could guide him in learning the mental as well as the physical aspects of Hapkido. In  1981, while working in a photographic supply store, Master Kincade met Dr. He-Young Kimm, who was taking photographs for a book he was writing.
